LJL:EOC-1

The main objective of the assignment essence of colour

There were mainly 6 methods of inquiry which we were taught during the the assignment essence of colour: observe, experiment, talk(hear),read, watch, discuss.

OBSERVE: Observing was one of the main task in essence of colour, observing colours and objects around us helped us understand how different colours play a different role in different objects. Colour assigned to me was brown, we had to at least collect 10 objects around us which were brown in colour. It helped me understand our surroundings more closely. Observing things in our surroundings is what we should do and this method of inquiry actually made me look more closely in the surroundings. one of the examples has been listed below:

here we can see that different shades of brown are reflected by different objects focusing on natural objects made me realise and look more closely in the nature and nearby surroundings. At first I was having a lot of difficulty finding but later I tried to concentrate and started to realise that so many things were actually around me. This task definitely changed my view of looking around and observing things. Well definitely observing part will help me in future, as an upcoming designer observing things around us is the most important and at the same time most difficult task but this method of inquiry completely changed my point of view.

WATCH: This is one of my favourite and one of the most challenging method of inquiry

we all know that more than a talkative speaker a silent watcher is dangerous. In this task we had to carefully watch a movie or any cinematic video and reflect the importance of the assigned colour in the scene. This task definitely was one of the most fun tasks. my cinematic preference was the vampire diaries. Different shades of brown reflected different emotions like light brown in the scene reflected love and compassion but dark brown reflected hate and fear this way through this task we got a depth knowledge of how colours in the background play a role in movies if instead of brown some other colour like red or yellow would have been used the scene or the effect would have been completely different.during this task I actually faced a lot of challenges one of them was choosing the right cinematic scene which reflected my colour and emotions at the same time but I overcome this by choosing the right one . well this method of inquiry will help me see and look things more carefully and with more ease.

MIND MAPS

Mind maps played a vital role throughout the assignment at first after reading the brief I was too confused of what had to be done but making mind maps and explaining each and every thing made my task much much easier. Mind maps played a vital role in the categorisation task since we had reflect how different emotions are reflected by a single colour.

MUDDIEST AND THE CLEAREST POINT IN THE TASK :

: The most unclear task to me was finding the correct cinematic scene in task 7 I couldn't decide that which scene would reflect the assigned colour and how should I explain the colours presence in the scene.

: The most clearest point to me was the pre task in which we had to categorise different objects around us from darker to lighter or vice versa and according to their category.

KEY POINTS:

: Learnt how different shades of same colour reflect different emotions.

: started to understand the importance of background colours in cinematic movies.

: my observation skills improved . I looked in the surroundings with a different point of view, with a lot of concentration.

In total this assignment was total success for me, from facing a lot of barriers like time management to getting appreciation from the teachers these 2 weeks were actually fun for me. initially during the first 2-3 days I wasn't able to cope up with the work load but as time passed I adjusted myself and started to enjoy all the tasks given to me. group works were sometimes a barrier too since the members of the group had different point of views but I overcome that too.

finally after 2 long weeks essence of colour came to an end. I loved working and enjoyed my first assignment to the fullest.
