Activity 2 - altering perception

INTRODUCTION:

Day 2 of think lab classes and today we were taught some new topics like scale and context

we were taught how different objects when increased or decreased in sizes. scale is when the shape of the object remains same it depends on how much zoomed it is like 2x , 3x, 4x the object isn't distorted. context means when there's a change in the environment or the object is perceived we were given examples of a traffic cone, a comb and many more.

warm up activity :

Warm up activity included the introduction and some examples given by the teachers like the cone

20 ft traffic cone with 2 people sitting on it (form of the object is not changed ) function has changed

cone earrings is still cone with needles the purpose here has been changed function has been changed but the form still remains the same.

main activity:

in the main activity we were divided into groups and each group had to choose an object and apply scale on it by maximising it and not changing its form. my group took scissors, each one of us discussed their ideas thoroughly and drew 2 ideas each. my first idea was a sea saw and the second idea was a water bridge.

REFLECTION:

  1. learnt about scale and context

  2. during the task choosing a correct object was a difficult task but we chose the right one and went ahead with it

  3. main task to keep in mind was that we only had to maximise it and understand scale and context without changing the form of the object/ or changing the natural structure of the object

SEA SAW

WATER BRIDGE

REFLECTION:

"every thing is designed"
